Lot 1. Tommy John 1978 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Home Jersey and Other Equipment. This Goodman & Sons size 44 World Series-used jersey is adorned with the No. 19 patch that the Dodgers wore to honor Jim Gilliam, their coach who died only two days before the championship competition began. While lacking tags, it shows good use, including some game stains on the front. John’s No. 25 is on the front and back, where his name also appears. His jackets, a hat, shoes, pants and undershirt accompany the jersey. Except for the pants, John wore them in Dodgers’ games between 1972 and 1978. Exact seasons are uncertain. Two jackets are included, one lighter and one heavier. The lighter jacket, which has “25” and “T. John” in marker on a label in the collar, shows significant use. John autographed the front with an nm-m 8 signature. The heavier jacket, size 48 by Goodman & Sons, shows light use, including stains on the left sleeve. John’s name is on the back. John also autographed a Dodgers cap and a pair of shoes. The signature on the bill of the cap is nm-m 8; “T.J.” and “#25” are on the underside in marker. The signatures on the Riddell spikes grade 9-10. This collection also includes John’s blue leather belt, four game-used undershirts with royal-blue sleeves and an unsigned pair of Puma shoes. The Goodman size 40 home pants are not game-worn. John will autograph the jersey, personalize the signature and add up to five notations if requested. It all comes with a Letter of Authenticity from John; the letter will specify that the jersey was worn in the World Series.

Lot 7. Tommy John 1969 Chicago White Sox Game-Used Jersey, Jacket and Other Equipment. This home jersey is the earliest being offered from the Tommy John Collection. John’s name is stitched onto a label in the collar, and stitching in the tail identifies it as part of “1969 Set 3.” On the back, the left upright in the “h” in “John” is missing. Otherwise, the Wilson size 42 jersey is ex-m to nm. Accompanying the jersey are a White Sox jacket, hat, shoes and two undershirts. John wore the hat and jacket for games during some part of his seven-year stint with the White Sox. This version of the jacket does not have the “Sox” logo. The shoes and undershirts were game-worn during his career. John signed the bill of the cap, which has his No. 25 on the underside. He also autographed both of the Converse shoes. All of these additional items show good use. With Chicago, John recorded 82 of his 288 career victories, the seventh highest career total among left-handers. Lot 9. Tommy John’s 1985 Oakland Athletics’ Game-Used Road Uniform. Tommy joined the Athletics in mid-season and pitched in 12 games. This road uniform is the only substantial A’s item in the collection. It comprises a Rawlings size 46 green jersey with a “1985 Set 1” tag, pants with an “85 * 36” tag and John’s name and number handwritten on separate labels, and a pair of Mizuno shoes. John’s name and number are on the back of the jersey, which shows light use. He signed the pants, which show good use. He also signed both shoes. The uniform is accompanied three green-sleeved undershirts worn by John and two with yellow sleeves, a green windbreaker autographed by John and a lightweight jacket from an A’s golf tournament. Lot 76. Tommy John’s Signed NY Yankees 1986 Game-Used Spring Training Home Uniform. Granted free agency after the 1985 season, John joined the Yankees as a non-roster player at spring training in 1986. His traditional number, 25, belonged to Don Baylor. John was assigned No. 65. This game-worn jersey has no tags. John autographed it; his signature is mint 9. For spring training, John was given pants worn by Clay Christiansen in 1985. A tag in the waist identifies the pants as Christiansen’s for 1985. His name is crossed out, and John’s is printed in marker. The jersey and pants are nm. They are accompanied by an autographed cap that John wore sometime during his years with the Yankees and a Yankees light-weight jacket not issued by the team. The cap is well used. The autograph on the bill is nm-m 8, and on the jacket, mint 9. Also included is a game-used undershirt, an Adidas lightweight jacket and an Adidas sleeveless sweater. Lot 77. Tommy John’s Signed NY Yankees 1986 Game-Used Spring Training Road Uniform. A non-roster free agent at the Yankees spring training camp in 1986, John was give No. 65 to wear. Don Baylor wore John’s traditional No. 25. John signed the jersey, which has “85,” for the year, sewn into the collar. During the regular 1985 season, no one wore No. 65. A game-worn Yankees cap, although possibly not from 1986, accompanies the jersey. John signed the bill of the cap, which shows extensive use and has “T.J. 25” on the underside of the bill. The autograph is nm-m 8. Pants and a jacket are also included. The pants, Wilson size 38, may have been used by John in spring training. This Wilson “The A2002” glove was in John’s locker ready for game use when he decided to call it a playing career at the end of the 1989 season. Lot 80. Tommy John Autographed 2008 New York Yankees All-Star Game Uniform. Yankee Stadium hosted the game, which the A.L. won in 15 innings, 4-3. The Majestic Authentic Collection jersey and pants have the requisite tags in the collar and waist. John’s autographs on the front of each are mint 9. Lot 81. Los Angeles Dodgers Uniform from Tommy John. The history of this uniform is uncertain. Most likely, it is from an old-timers’ game. The jersey, pants and hat were issued by the Dodgers, and the shoes and undershirt were game-worn during John’s career. The jersey, which is nm, bears John’s name and No. 25 on the back and his number on the front. He has placed a mint 9 autograph on the front of the Rawlings size 48 jersey. A tag in the collar reads “88 1 W.S.” Of course, John was a Yankees pitcher in 1988. The Rawlings size 37 pants were once assigned to Franklin Stubbs. On a label in the waist, “Stubbs” is crossed out; his name is followed by “37-39 26 88 1” and “Set 1 1988.” “TJ” has been added to the waist in marker. The hat shows good use, with “13” on the underside of the bill. Throughout the 1970s and part of the 1980s, that number was assigned to Joe Ferguson. The blue and white shoes worn by John are by Puma. The undershirt has royal blue sleeves. This uniform comes with a Letter of Authenticity stating it is from John’s collection. Lot 82. Tommy John Game-Worn Chicago White Sox Pants – 1968 Home and 1971 Road. The Wilson size 34 pinstriped pants for 1968 games at Comiskey Park have a label in the waist that says “John 29” 68 Set 5.” Ex-m. The 1971 pants are part of 29” x 36” framed display that contains several of John’s Topps cards. Labels stitched into the waist say “John 29” and “1971 Set 1 – PT 65”. Two other numbers have been written in marker in the waist of the Wilson size 34 pants. These pants come with a Letter of Authenticity from John.

Lot 84. 3 Tommy John-Signed Chicago White Sox Baseball Caps – 2 Game Worn. John autographed the bills of a 1960s blue cap and a 1971 red cap. The blue version shows heavy use, and the red cap exhibits use and has John’s uniform number on the underside. The signature on the blue cap is nm 7, and on the red, gem mint 10. The third cap is a Cooperstown Collection 1950s replica, which is nm. John’s autograph on it grades 8-9.
