Lot 75. 4 Game-Used Bats from Tommy John’s Collection – Raul Mondesi, Johnny Oates, 2 More. These bats show light to extensive use. John personally obtained each of them. 1. Mondesi: 34” Rawlings Big Stick, black, his number on the knob and inside the concave barrel end, apparently uncracked, pine tar and tape on the handle. 2. Oates: 34.5” Hillerich & Bradsby R143 bat, handle cracked but intact, his number on the knob. 3. Drew Henson: 34.5” Louisville Slugger R206 black bat, tape on the knob, cracked on the back of the intact barrel. 4. Michael Restovich, autographed, 34” Louisville Slugger C243 model, his name on the knob, tar on the uncracked handle, “Minnesota Twins” below his name on the barrel. These bats come with a Letter of Provenance from John. The 1994 Rookie of the Year, Mondesi rapped at least 20 home runs in nine of his 13 major league seasons and retired with a .273 career batting average. He played for six teams, including the Dodgers, Yankees and Pirates. Oates played for five teams, including the Yankees and Dodgers, and managed the Orioles and Rangers. He was the 1996 A.L.
