Lot 1. Muhammad Ali Autographed Oct. 13, 1980 “Sports Illustrated.” Large mint 9 signature on the cover. In 11 illustrated pages inside, the magazine details his loss to Larry Holmes in his penultimate fight. Holmes scored a technical knockout in the 11th round of the Oct. 2 bout to claim the WBC world heavyweight title. Ali retired for a second time, and permanently, after one more fight. This issue, which is ex-m, marks Ali’s last appearance on an “SI” cover during his career. Kevin Keating authenticated the autograph. Winning Bid $198.
