Lot 106. Hoard of 100 Tommy John Signed Photos and More Than 1,200 Unsigned. Excellent dealer group with signed photos and some postcards from each of the teams John pitched for. The signatures are mint 9 or gem mint 10. Four autographed photos, including one vintage example, show John with the Cleveland Indians. Another 18 photos, some vintage, and three postcards represent his days with the Chicago White Sox. An 8” x 29.5” sequence of seven photos held together with clear tape capture his delivery. Thirty-eight signed photos or postcards show John with the Los Angeles Dodgers. There are 17 photos or postcards of John with the New York Yankees, three with the Oakland A’s and nine with the California Angels. Several others show him as a player or coach with minor league teams. Most of the photos are 8” x 10”; three are 11” x 14”, and some are smaller. Approximately15 postcards are included. The photos are a mix of posed and action shots; no more than about 10% show John with another player or a member of the public. Photos of John as a New York Yankee dominate the unsigned part of the collection. In more than 1,100, he wears a Yankee uniform. In about 500 color photos, which measure 7” x 10”, the negative is reversed; John appears to be a right-handed pitcher. Of a group of 500 Yankees photos 8” x 10” or larger, 375 are black & white. Another 100 5” x 7” Yankee photos are b&w. In another 100+ 8” x 10” photos, John is with other teams: approximately 20 with the A’s, 15 with the White Sox, 35 with the Angels and 35 with the Dodgers.
