Elmer Flick Autograph on a U.S. Postal Service Stamp.

Lot 48. Elmer Flick Autograph on a U.S. Postal Service Stamp. Flick’s signature is ex-m 6 to nm 7 on a 1969 “Professional Baseball” stamp, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of baseball. Kevin Keating authenticated the autograph. As a rookie with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1898, Flick batted .302. In the ensuing 11 seasons, his average ranged from .297 to .367. He led the National League in RBI in 1900, and the American League in batting average once, stolen bases twice and triples three times. An illness essentially ended his career in 1908, although he played part-time in the 1908-10 seasons. At his induction into the Hall of Fame in 1963, Flick was 87. He died in 1971. Winning Bid $35.
