Bill Virdon Signed Baseball Glove.

Lot 44. Bill Virdon Signed Baseball Glove. Virdon’s autograph is an unimprovable gem mint 10 on the back of the small finger of the Hollander nm Professional Model 1176 BILL VIRDON MODEL adult-sized glove. The N.L.’s Rookie of the Year in 1955, Virdon was superb in center field. With a lesser outfielder, the Pittsburgh Pirates might have lost two games they won in the 1960 World Series. Marvelous plays by Virdon kept the Yankees for scoring additional runs. After he retired, he managed the Pirates and several other teams. In 1974, he was the A.L. Manager of the Year with the Yankees and, in 1980, N.L. Manager of the Year with the Houston Astros. At 82 he remains active in baseball, serving as a special outfield instructor for the Pirates during spring training. Kevin Keating authenticated the autograph. This glove is one of the finest items we’ve seen signed by Virdon. Winning Bid $75.
