Ted Williams Boldly Signed Lithograph Commemorating His 287th Home Run.

Lot 3. Ted Williams Boldly Signed Lithograph Commemorating His 287th Home Run. Williams’ signature is large (4.25” wide) and stands out impressively on this 18” x 24” print featuring three images by noted sports artist Cliff Spohn. Williams signed in pen, and Spohn, in pencil. Kevin Keating authenticated the autographs. Spohn’s artwork provides a portrait of Williams and two batting poses. The lithograph is from an issue of 521, one for each of Williams’ career homes runs, from Decathlon Sports Prints. Williams hit his 287th home run on June 27, 1950 against the Philadelphia A’s at Shibe Park. Bobby Shantz was the Athletics’ pitcher. It was Williams’ 22nd homer of the season. The print is nicely double-matted and framed to 22” x 29”. Winning Bid $218.
