1978 Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Scouting Report and Play Book for a Colts Game.
Lot 260. 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Scouting Report and Play Book for a Colts Game. The Colts were still in Baltimore then, and the report is for a Dec. 9 game. Playing at Three Rivers Stadium, the Steelers won, 35-13. The victory was one of 14 that enabled the Steelers to dominate the AFC Central Division. They went on to defeat the Dallas Cowboys, 35-31, in Super Bowl XIII. The scouting report consists of 37 photocopied or mimeographed pages that include the Colts’ roster, a depth chart for their defense and diagrams of plays and defensive schemes from Baltimore games with the Jets, Patriots, Browns, Seahawks and Steelers (from an August exhibition game). The report was issued to Thom Dornbrook, who was on injured reserve. It contains some handwritten notes and drawings of additional plays, apparently by Dornbrook. Reports such as this seldom reach the public. It is a superb item from the fourth of the Steelers’ 1970s Super Bowl championships! Minimum Bid $100.
