Lot 218. Larry Jansen Signed Baseball – “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” Winning Pitcher. Mint 9 to gem mint 10 autograph on the sweet spot of an nm-m ONL Feeney baseball. Jansen was the pitching beneficiary of Bobby Thomson’s famous hit off Ralph Branca on Oct. 3, 1951. A starter for the New York Giants from 1947-53, he twice won 20 or more games. After that, arm troubles limited his effectiveness and career. Later, as a pitching coach, he was instrumental in the success of Gaylord Perry and Juan Marichal. Jansen passed away in 2009. This signed ball will make an excellent, almost necessary, complement to a Thomson-Branca autographed ball! Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
