None of New York’s major league teams made it to the 1940 World Series, but Yankee Stadium hosted a championship game nevertheless. On Sunday, Sept. 15, the New York Department of Sanitation took on the city’s Police Department in a benefit for the Sanitation Department’s Welfare Fund. Ex red, blue and gray ticket shows a policeman batting and a Colonial America figure serving as the umpire. The ticket measures about 2 ¾” x 6 ¾”.
