Lot 147. 1936 Chicago Cubs Chewing Tobacco Tin. Colorful tin 6” in diameter and 3 ¼” high is from the Rock City Tobacco Co. and named after the baseball team. There are three logos around the side of the tin, which shows light surface wear and light foxing and a couple of small rust spots. The lid is substantially oxidized. Very presentable and collectible example.

Lot 148. Boston Garter Original Box and Garter. The company responsible for some of the most beautiful baseball cards ever produced turned out this box for its product line. The 3 ½” x 3 ½” x ¾” box has graphics representing a garter as a valet. Vg box, nm garter.

Lot 149. 1908 Baseball Scorecard on a Die-Cut Catcher’s Mitt Fan. The mitt is about 8 ½” x 8 ½”, the scorecard is unused, the original stick for the fan is present, there is advertising on the back and the item displays extremely well with some light creases that are apparent close-up and minor edge scuffs.

Lot 150. 1920s “Lucky Strike” Display Featuring Pittsburgh Pirates Pitcher Lee Meadows. Henry Lee “Specs” Meadows pitched for the Pirates from 1923-1929. He was one of only a few players who wore glasses on the field in the early 20th century. Meadows led the National League in wins in 1926. The die-cut cardboard figure of Meadows offered here was part of an enormous “Lucky Strike Cigarettes” advertising display piece that also featured tennis star Howard O. Kinsey, Olympic champion swimmer Helen Wainwright and Olympic champion diver Stubby Kruger. The 13” X 28” cardboard figure of Meadows has been mounted onto a 22” x 28” piece of black hardboard that is suitable for framing. There is a moderate amount of chipping and creasing that does not inhibit the visually stunning presentation of this piece.

Lot 151. 4 Uncommon Candy Bands Featuring a Baseball Player. They are similar to cigar bands, but they were used to wrap candy instead. The four bands vary in color – orange, purple, green and magenta. Each has an image of a batter in the center and recognizes the N.L. Co. The bands average vg to vg-ex. All four have light glue stains on one end, and in two cases, there are light stains behind the batter.

Lot 152. Wonderful Yankee Stadium 1940 “Baseball Championship” Full Ticket. None of New York’s major league teams made it to the 1940 World Series, but Yankee Stadium hosted a championship game nevertheless. On Sunday, Sept. 15, the New York Department of Sanitation took on the city’s Police Department in a benefit for the Sanitation Department’s Welfare Fund. Ex red, blue and gray ticket shows a policeman batting and a Colonial America figure serving as the umpire. The ticket measures about 2 ¾” x 6 ¾”.

Lot 153. 2 1940s Rittgers Baseball Figures – Batter and Pitcher. Humorous baseball figures with the batter standing about 7 7/8” tall and wearing a red cap and a gray uniform with red piping and a blue “N” and “4.” He seems to have a larger left forearm than other examples we’ve seen. The pitcher, about 7 ½” tall, has a blue hat and white uniform with blue piping and a red “A” and blue “7.” The left leg of the batter has been repaired, and he shows a couple of tiny chips each on his cap and neck. He has a label for distributor Maurice A. Love of Buffalo on the bottom of his left shoe. The pitcher shows repairs to his right leg, some hairline cracks and small scuffs, and a chip on his right ear and jaw. Each figure has a 1941 Rittgers copyright impressed on the right shoe. Nice collector examples that display well.

Lot 154. Decanter with LeRoy Neiman Artwork, LA Dodgers Collectibles. The decanter, No. 2 in a series for Satinwood Blended Whiskey, features a batter and catcher; ex in the original box. It is accompanied by four plastic cups from the 1965 Dodgers-Twins World Series, ex; an 8” x 10” photo of the 1970 Dodgers, vg-ex, and the Winter 1982-83 issue of Dodgers Line Drives, ex.
