Lot 155.  Johnny Evers Touching Second, Four Other Books by Hall of Fame Members. Subtitled “The Science of Baseball,” this book was published in 1910. This second edition from the Hall of Fame second baseman is a collectible vg and contains bookplate photos of Cobb, Lajoie, Wagner, Speaker, Mathewson and others. The other books are by: Christy Mathewson, Pitching in a Pinch, scarce 1977 Stein and Day paperback, vg+ to ex. Putnam originally published the Mathewson book in 1912. Stanley (Bucky) Harris, Playing the Game: From Mine Boy to Manager, 1925 apparent first edition, vg book with a magazine company stamp on the flyleaf, no dust jacket. Rogers Hornsby, My Kind of Baseball, 1953, vg, missing dj. And Joe DiMaggio, Baseball for Everyone, vg book, missing dj. Lot 156.  3 Babe Ruth Books – The Babe Ruth Story and The Real Babe Ruth. Both the hardback and softcover versions of The Babe Ruth Story are present. “As told to Bob Considine,” the 1948 book is promoted as “My only Authorized Story.” The hardcover is a g+ to vg ex-library copy with the g-vg cover in Mylar adhered to the book. The 96-page softcover, a stated first edition, is vg-ex with a small stain and scuff and minor creases on the cover and clean vg+ to ex pages except for tape marks on the first title page. The Real Babe Ruth by Dan Daniel, 1963 second edition, is a 162-page nm-m extensively illustrated softcover that has been hardbound between orange boards. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research, a non-profit membership organization open to all that fosters the research, preservation, and dissemination of the history and record of baseball.

Lot 159.  52 Books on the Yankees – Histories, Ruth, Mantle, Gehrig Biographies, Etc. Hardbacks unless otherwise indicated. Nine histories or record books complement the biographies and autobiographies, which dominate this collection. Sparky Lyle’s The Bronx Zoo leads the list of hardbacks; 1979, ex-m+ book and dj. Other hardbacks cover the Sixty-one season (Tony Kubek, 1967 assumed first edition, water damaged), the Yankee-Boston rivalry (Harvey Frommer, 1982, stated first edition), nm book and ex-m dj, the 1920s-50s (Frank Graham Jr., 1981), ex/ex, and Yankee Stadium (Joseph Durso, 1972, water damage). Lot 160.  33 Baseball Team Histories Including 5 (2 Autographed) from the Putnam Series. Hardbacks unless otherwise noted. The Putnam histories remain in demand, and some are scarce. Two of the five offered here are signed by the authors: The Milwaukee Braves by Harold Kaese and R.G. Lynch, signed by Lynch (mint 9) and another individual on the flyleaf, 1954 ex book in g-vg dust jacket, and The Washington Senators by Shirley Povich, also signed on the flyleaf (9-10), 1954 vg book, dj missing. Autographs authenticated by Kevin Keating. The other Putnam histories are: The Boston Braves by Kaese, 1948 vg, no dj; The New York Yankees by Frank Graham, 1943 g book, no dj; and The Brooklyn Dodgers by Graham, 1945 vg-ex/p.
