1976 Pittsburgh Sign Honoring Roberto Clemente.
Lot 165. 1976 Pittsburgh Sign Honoring Roberto Clemente. This 11” x 28” sign, which was displayed on buses in the Pittsburgh area, features four dramatic images of “The Great One.” Sponsored, in part, by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the gold, black and white sign contains the poetry of Tom Clark: “won’t forget his nervous habit of rearing his head back and his neck like a proud horse.” The poem is presented in both English and Spanish. One unusual image on the sign shows a playful Clemente. The sign is vg with multiple pin holes in each corner and inoffensive creases.
Winning Bid $40.
