Lot 150. 1931-33 Who’s Who in Baseball with Grove, Simmons and Terry Covers. Baseball Magazine published these annuals, with each containing the major and minor league records of more than 200 players. The 1931 and 1932 issues have duotone drawings of Lefty Grove and Al Simmons, respectively. Both copies are vg. The 1931 issue has a “1” in the top border, a 1” split along the spine, and the cover is loose at the bottom staple. The 1932 issue has a scuff in the top border, a ½” tear at the top and two vertical creases. The 1934 issue, which has a photo of Bill Terry on the cover, has an ex appearance and a small, light water stain along the bottom edge. These issues turn up infrequently. They are accompanied by the 1959 softcover Phillies (Cigars) Presents Baseball Lingo, 62 illustrated pages of baseball terms, vg-ex cover, ex+ interior.

Lot 151. 18 Different Issues of The Sporting News Baseball Guide 1943-92. These annuals contain batting, pitching and fielding statistics for major and minor leaguers, and well as articles on the seasons’ developments. For example, the 1946 Guide has an article headlined “Branch Rickey Signs Two Negro Players,” and it is accompanied by a photo of John Wright and Jackie Robinson. Iffy’s Book of (Detroit) Tiger Tales by “Iffy the Dopester.” Published in 1935, this 64-page paperback magazine-size book contains selected articles and illustrations taken from The Detroit Free Press after the Tigers won the 1935 World Series. The team is pictured in a center spread, which is loose. P-f covers, front and back marginally attached. G-vg interior. Delightful reading and cartoons.

Lot 155. 1948 Detroit Tigers Program, Yearbooks for 1955, 1965, 1967, 1970 and 1972. The 20-page program for a game with the White Sox is neatly, partially scored in pencil. It has a 1” edge tear on the front cover and a ½” edge tear on the back cover; otherwise, nm. The 1955 yearbook is f-g with the covers detached and connected to each other by tape. The other yearbooks are for 1965 (4 copies) average vg, 1967 vg, 1970 ex with some foxing on the back cover and 1972 ex-m to nm.

Lot 156. 1968 Phillies Program, 1966 and 1968 Orioles Programs. The 28-page Philadelphia program is for a game with Pittsburgh; neatly scored in pen, ex. It pictures 17 Phillies, including Bunning and Allen. This Orioles programs are ex, 1966 (28 pages) vs. California and 1968 (38 pages) vs. New York (scored). The 1966 program contains features on Frank and Brooks Robinson. Both are pictured in the 1968 program as well.
