Lot 121. Bill Veeck Signed Autobiography – Veeck as in Wreck. Written with Ed Linn, the book recounts the “chaotic career of baseball’s incorrigible maverick.” Veeck was one of baseball’s great innovators and promoters. His innovations and successes with the Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Browns and Chicago White Sox earned him a place in the Hall of Fame in 1991, five years after his death. Veeck’s signature on the flyleaf is mint 9 to gem mint 10. The 1962 hardcover book is ex in vg-ex price-clipped dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 124. The Pittsburgh Pirates: A Pictorial History Signed by Stargell, Maz and Biederman. Richard L. Burtt, a retired U.S. Steel executive, compiled this coffee table 152-page volume, and Les Biederman, who covered the Pirates for more than 30 years for the Pittsburgh Press, provided “recollections and anecdotes.” They and Willie Stargell (d. 2001) and Bill Mazeroski autographed the flyleaf. Their signatures are 10s. Burtt signed as “Dick Burtt.” The 1977 hardback is ex-m in a vg dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
