Lot 83. Don Larsen Signed World Series Perfect Game Photo. Larsen’s autograph is a mint 9 to gem mint 10 on a black & white photo about 11 ½” x 15” double-matted and framed to 15” x 18”. The frame shows a number of scuffs. The composite photo shows Larsen pitching and incorporates the box score for his perfect game against Brooklyn on Oct. 8, 1956 at Yankee Stadium. Lot 88. 1919 and 1925 Yankee Transfer Documents, One Signed by Jacob Ruppert. From 1915 until his death in 1939, Ruppert ran the Yankee organization. He obtained Babe Ruth from the Red Sox, built Yankee Stadium, undermined the authority of A.L. President Ban Johnson and provided the foundation for seven World Championships. The 1919 re-assignment of future Hall of Fame pitcher Dazzy Vance is signed by Ruppert and one other executive. His fountain pen signature is a 10. The 1925 re-assignment of Henry Cullop has a Ruppert signature that actually was signed by club secretary Edward Barrow. The document also has the signature of another executive. Historically interesting documents with a signature by one of the game’s more successful and controversial executives. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 108. Composite Photo Signed by New York’s 3 Consecutive World Series MVPs! The New York Giants’ Dusty Rhodes (w/”54 WS MVP NY Giants” added) won the award in 1954, Brooklyn’s Johnny Podres (w/”55 WS MVP Brooklyn Dodgers”) the next season, and Don Larsen (w/”56 WS MVP NY Yankees”) in 1956. The signatures are bold mint 10s on an 11”x14” beautiful commemorative photo depicting the three in color superimposed on sepia images of their stadiums. Lot 109. OAL Baseballs Signed by One-Time Yankees – Skowron, Bauer and Stallard. Bill Moose Skowron and Bauer signed Bobby Brown baseballs, and Tracy Stallard, a Budig ball. All signed the sweet spot. Skowron’s signature grades mint 9 on a ball that is ex because of uneven discoloration. The Bauer signature is strong with a discoloration spot behind half of “Hank,” and there are similar spots throughout the ball. Bauer passed away in 2007. Stallard’s autograph is gem mint 10 on a mint ball. In his relatively brief career, Stallard pitched also for the Red Sox and Cardinals, and below his signature he made an addition that refers to his stint in Boston. On Oct. 1, 1961, Stallard served up home run #61 to Roger Maris. His addition says “#61 to Maris 10/1/61.” Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 110. 6 Photos Signed by Yankees – Berra, Rizzuto, Richardson, Henrich, Etc. The signatures are gem mint 10s, five on b&w photos. The photos generally have a number of light creases. Yogi Berra, Bobby Richardson and Johnny Blanchard autographed vintage team-issued 8” x 10” photos. Spud Chandler (died 1990) signed a 1943 7” x 9” wire photo. He wrote the first names of his wife and son on the photo. Tom Henrich autographed an 8” x 10” Acme 1940 wire photo that shows him with skipper Joe McCarthy. Henrich personalized his signature and added “The Greatest” over McCarthy’s image. Phil Rizzuto (d. 2007) placed his signature on an 8”x10” Induction Day photo-stat. Lot 125. 1941 Yankees at Dodgers World Series Program Scored for Game 4. The Yankees won this game, 7-4, and captured the series the next day. The 36-page program has photos and brief biographical sketches of each player. A section of the program cover in the upper left is missing; it once held an autograph of Babe Ruth. The front cover also has various scuffs and tears. Both covers are largely detached; the back cover and the last page of the program are stained.
