Lot 166. 1939 Churchman “Kings of Speed” Set of 50 with Jesse Owens, Howard Hughes. This set comprises photos and brief biographical sketches of men who traveled at high speeds in the air, on the ground and across water, snow and ice. Flyers make up the first 10 cards, and Howard Hughes, ex+, is among them. Those who traveled fast on land included John Cobb, vg-ex, who reached 350 miles per hour in Utah in 1938; Rudolf Caracciola, vg-ex, and Tazio Nuvolari, vg-ex, members of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, and Jesse Owens, f-g, star of the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
