Lot 62.  9 Wire or Newspaper Photos of Red Sox – Williams, Duffy, Cronin, Yaz, Etc. The photo that is perhaps most interesting features the four-year-old son of shortstop Vern Stephens. The son claimed that rookie Jim Piersall spanked him. As a result, manager Lou Boudreau had Piersall pack his bags and return to the minors. The 1952 INP Soundphoto is 7” x 9” and ex. A 1961 UPI photo has images of Ted Williams and his new wife (7” x 9”, paper loss ¼” wide on Mrs. Williams hair, otherwise vg-ex). Other UPI photos show Hall of Fame outfielder High Duffy (5 ½” x 7 ½” image, vg), Tony Conigliaro chasing a fly ball (1966, 8” x 10”, vg-ex, from the files of the Cleveland Press) and Carl Yastrzemski belting out his 3,000th hit on Sept. 12, 1979 (8” x 9”, ex+). Duffy is also the subject of a 5 ½” x 7 ½” Acme photo (g-vg), and Herb Hash appears in an 8” x 10” 1940 newspaper photo that shows publication edits. Also, Dizzy Trout and Joe Cronin in a 6 ½” x 9 ½” INP Soundphoto (vg-ex) and Carlton Fisk and other players in an 8” x 10” AP facsimile wire photo from 1976, vg-ex.
Minimum Bid $50.

Lot 65.  14 Original Snapshot Photos from the 1957 Boston Red Sox’ Spring Training. Taken in Sarasota, the photos are about 3” x 5” and capture baseball and other scenes at the training facility. Thirteen of them are b&w, and one is color. Players identified include Bob Doerr, Billy Goodman, Jim Piersall, Faye Thronberry and Willard Nixon. Close-up, the photos show some “alligatoring” and a few creases. Nice and unique!
Winning Bid $20.

Lot 71.  Roger Clemens Autograph on a 1986 World Series Official Baseball. In the 1986 season, “The Rocket” was phenomenal. He won 24 games, lost only 4, recorded a 2.48 ERA and won the Cy Young and MVP Awards. He started two games that resulted in no decision in the 1986 World Series. His signature is a gem mint 10 on a side (west) panel below the World Series 1986 logo. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $61.

Lot 73.  Dom DiMaggio Signed 1940 AP Original Wire Photo. Bold gem mint 10 autograph on a vg 7” x 9” sepia photo. DiMaggio passed away in May. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $25.

Lot 80.  Harry Hooper Signed Yellow Plaque Hall of Fame Postcard. Hooper’s signature on the top margin is an nn-m 8 to mint 9, strong and perfect for display. Hooper is one of the tougher yellow plaques to acquire. The Red Sox right fielder was enshrined at Cooperstown in 1971 and passed away in 1974. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $113.

Lot 114.  12 Magazine Photos Signed by Red Sox – Boggs, Clemens, Yaz, Etc. The signatures are 9s and 10s on photos that are about 7 ½” x 9 ½” and larger. The photos are color unless otherwise noted. The signers are: Don Baylor, Wade Boggs, Ellis Burks, Roger Clemens (pictured with Nolan Ryan), Mike Greenwell (2 different), Trot Nixon, Mickey Owen (b&w), Mel Parnell (pers.), Rico Petrocelli, Sam White and Carl Yastrzemski. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $55.

Lot 119.  Tony and Billy Conigliaro Autographs, Signatures of Other Boston Red Sox. The Conigliaro brothers signed the cover of a 1965 Red Sox program. Their signatures, which grade nm 7, are close together and could be matted and framed. The other signatures are by Dalton Jones, Frank Malzone, Jack Lamabe, Bob Tillman (died 2000), Jim Lonborg, Jerry Moses and Mike Ryan. The other signatures are ex-m 6 and nm 7. All of the signers except Billy Conigliaro were on the Red Sox team in 1965. He joined his brother in Boston in 1969. Tony Conigliaro passed away in 1990. Only the cover of the program is present, and it is vg with a small chip out of the top edge. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $61.

Lot 136.  11” x 13” Ted Williams Reproduction Moxie Tin Litho Sign – from Cuba! Strange as it seems, our consignor obtained this colorful sign by Desperate Sign Co. of Wadsworth, OH, from a source in Cuba. The sign has lost its luster, but the colors are strong. There are bends and paint loss in the corner, “10-93” is lightly written on Williams’ uniform and there are scattered tiny stains and scratches. Viva Moxie!
Minimum Bid $9.
