Lot 104. 75+ 1925-40 Newspaper Pages with Golf Content – Sarazen, Hagan, Manero, Etc. Predominantly, these pages come from the Oregonian of Portland. They are well preserved and average ex. The New York Times and Galveston Daily News are also represented. Forty-seven of the pages contain 1937 strips of the Sunday color comic Divot Diggers. Each strip is part of a full page and has a golf theme. A 1925 page contains a Walter Hagen ad for cigarettes. In a 1933 half-page ad for Davega Department Stores, Hagen, Johnny Ferrell and Gene Sarazen promote their golf clubs. Toney Manero’s win at U.S. Open is the subject of a full-page 1937 ad for Camel Cigarettes (2 copies). Lot 105. 1908 Golf Advertisement for Pinehurst, Reproduction Sign for Westwood Clubs. Fabulous image of a determined boy golfer in the Dec. 1908 ad from Country Life in America. The 10” x 14” ad has edge tear, some reinforced on the back, a heavy crease and several lighter creases. Will display very well if framed. The 11 1/2” x 12” reproduction sign shows a golfer with a clubhouse in the background and is ex-m.

Lot 106. 1950s, 1960s Ads with Bobby Jones, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer. Jones is in a 6” x 11” advertisement with cartoon artwork by Brooklyn Bum creator Willard Mullin. The golfing legend stands next to trophies representing his triumphs in the British and U.S. Opens and British and U.S. Amateurs. Ex with the bottom ½” folded back. A single page from the 1960s has an ad with Palmer on one side and Player on the other. Vg-ex.
