The Hustler’s Handbook Autographed by Bill Veeck.
Lot 136. The Hustler’s Handbook Autographed by Bill Veeck. Veeck was enshrined posthumously at Cooperstown in 1991 for his contributions to baseball in a career that spanned four decades and five teams. He died in 1986. His impact on the game was significant. Loved by both the public and the players, he is known for his rule-breaking and publicity stunts. At the same time, he is more seriously respected for signing the first African-American player in the AL, Larry Doby, to the Cleveland Indians in 1947. This 344-page book, written with Ed Linn, offers Veeck’s insights concerning baseball. Published in 1965, this hardback is vg+ to ex with a vg dj that displays better. Veeck’s signature, which is relatively difficult to find, is a 9-10 of 10 on a blank page.
Winning Bid $168.
