31 ½” x 31 ½” Silk “Roberto” Champion-ship Scarf by Givenchy.

Lot 444. 31 ½” x 31 ½” Silk “Roberto” Champion-ship Scarf by Givenchy. In 1972, John Galbreath, owner of racehorses and the Pittsburgh Pirates, had two thoroughbred champions – Roberto Clemente and the horse named for the Pittsburgh outfielder. Sired by Hail to Reason, Roberto raced successfully in Europe. In 1971, he was the Irish Champion two-year-old. At three, he captured the Epsom Derby, the UK’s most prestigious race. Roberto was the grand-sire of Barbaro, ill-fated 2006 Kentucky Derby winner. The beige scarf is framed in dark brown and has brown images. Givenchy name is in the lower right corner. Ex-m.
