Lot 556.  . Baseball Cap Signed by “The KING and His COURT” Star Eddie Feigner. Feigner, who passed away earlier this year, was the “King” of the softball exhibition circuit. Through softball, he reinvented himself and transformed a troubled life into a success story. Abandoned at birth on the steps of a Catholic Hospital in Walla Walla, Wash., he was continually in trouble as a boy. After being thrown out of school in his early teens, he served in the Marine Corps during World War II. A head injury led to a medical discharge. After being discharged, he started a new life with his new name – “Feigner” from the mother who raised him, and “Eddie” from a friend. About the same time, he discovered he had a very special talent: He could pitch a softball faster than anyone. His pitches reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. In 1946, he organized a four-man team, taking on all comers in the Pacific Northwest. In 1950 he named the team “The King and His Court” and began touring the country, playing against nine-man teams. For most of his life, he provided thrilling entertainment for thousands of fans. The cap, which is nm, is signed by Feigner and teammate Richie Gibbs. Both signatures are black sharpie 10s.
