1910 “Reconciliation of Corbett and Choynski” Postcard with Jim Jeffries.
Lot 247. 1910 “Reconciliation of Corbett and Choynski” Postcard with Jim Jeffries. In 1889, Jim Corbett and Joe Choynski faced off three times. The second meeting of these rival San Franciscans was especially brutal, with Corbett knocking out Choynski in the 27th round. Their rivalry was especially intense because Choynski was a Jewish laborer, and Corbett was a Christian who worked in a bank. In 1910, Jim Jeffries got the two men together, and all three are pictured in the 1910s postcard from Rob Roy Novelty Publishing, which describes the 27-round fight as the “World’s Greatest Battle.” Vg+ to ex with corner wear and a small corner crease visible on the back. Unusual.
Winning Bid $185.
