Lot 235. April 1915 Baseball Magazine Focusing on Walter Johnson. Essentially from cover to cover, this issue is filled with Johnson photos and articles. Recently, the Washington pitcher had announced that he was jumping to the upstart Federal League. The magazine cover presents superb artwork by J. F. Kernan, a prolific and widely respected illustrator who specialized in portraits, usually of middle-class Americans. The cover is detached for the inside pages, has “1915” printed on it, and has chips, creases and some tape along the edges. The central area with Johnson’s image is free of creases and displays well with brilliant colors. The contents are ex. The inside back cover has a color ad with Johnson promoting Remington guns and other sports equipment.
