Lot 202. 5 Original 1940s-50s Wire Photos Featuring Paul Waner, Champion Golfer. Few baseball players were more proficient with a golf club than Hall of Fame Pittsburgh outfielder Paul Waner. A 1938 Wide World wire photo shows him shaking hands with Jack Russell after he defeated the Chicago Cubs pitcher to win the Baseball Player’s Golf Tournament. An International News wire photos shows him with Lloyd Brown, Cleveland pitcher, as he defends his title in the Miami Biltmore Lefthanders’ Golf Championship. In a 1939 photo from Wide World, Waner defends his Baseball Player’s title against Wes Ferrell. In 1940s photos, he is shown with his brother, Lloyd, and with Ferrell and Russell.
