The text, printed on 7 ½” x 9 ½” textured gray card stock, says “Summer Hosiery for the Summer Girl.” The ad promotes the F. B. Kelly Co. of Rochester, NY. Nm.

Lot 113. Wright & Ditson 1921 Christmas Mini-Catalog + Mead, Diamond, Dudley Items. The 20-page Wright & Ditson booklet offers Columbia bicycles and golf, ice skating, skiing, tennis, hockey, baseball, football and basketball equipment. Vg with a stain along the spine. A cartoon of baseball action occupies one side of a scorecard from Diamond Brand Baseball Goods, g with a 1 ½” tear. Two wonderful, colorful early 1900s circulars promote Ranger and Crusader bicycles produced by the Mead Cycle Co. of Chicago. Accompanying the circulars is “Bargain List No. 30,” eight pages of bicycles components and accessories, and items having nothing to do with bicycles. Ex-m as folded for mailing. Also, a printed form letter and a hand-addressed envelope from the Charles H. Dudley, Inc. sports equipment company of Hanover, N.H. Vg envelope, ex letter.

Lot 114. 1940s Wheaties Cereal Bowl with DiMaggio, Feller, Grange, Didrikso, Etc. The white bowl is illustrated with red silhouette figures of Jack Armstrong, Babe Didrikson, Jane Fauntz, Red Grange, Robert Feller, Lawson Little, Ellsworth Vines Jr., Kit Klein and Joe DiMaggio. The top rim of the bowl features the phrase “Champions Eat A Breakfast Of.” Ex.

Lot 115. 1921 Stanford U. Yearbook with 2 Olympics Champs, Other Great Sports Content. The Stanford Quad is collectible as a work of art, with fantastic graphics and excellent vintage photos. That artwork that introduces each section and many of the photos are suitable for framing. The sports content – more than 100 pages of the 500-page book, is exceptional. Among the athletes are Stanford’s Morris Kirksey and USC’s Charlie Paddock. Both won multiple gold medals at the 1920 Olympics. Thirty-two pages, including a two-page spread, are devoted to football, and 18 pages each to baseball and track. The brown leather hard cover of the yearbook has some scuffing and a ½” tear on the upper spine. Some minor writing on the inside first three pages. Wonderful sports collectible, and a work of art too!

Lot 116. Jan. 29, 1925 Sepia Photo of Track Legends Paavo Nurmi and Jake Weber. The photo of Paavo Nurmi and “Stuttering” Jake Weber was taken at the Fordham University Gymnasium. Between 1920-32, Nurmi set 20 world running records and won nine Olympic Gold Medals. He was one of the greatest middle distance runners in history. The photo was taken during Nurmi’s first visit to the United States. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by hundreds of Finnish Americans and ran his first big race on Jan. 6, 1925 at Madison Square Garden to a sellout crowd. He set a world record of 4:13.5 in the mile. Weber, pictured with Nurmi, was recognized as the world’s worst public speaker because of his unusual delivery. He was Fordham’s athletic director and American Olympic Track and Field trainer in 1920, 24, 28, 32 and 36. Lastly, there is a baseball connection. NY Giants manager John McGraw was always after Jake to move to the Polo Grounds permanently. The nm photo is embossed in the lower left corner by NY photographer Albert Rothschild.

Lot 117. 1940s-50s 8” x 10” B&W Premium Photos of Jesse Owens, Cornelius Warmerdam. These photos, from an anonymous supplier, have blank backs, white borders and the athlete’s name in signature-like script. A sepia photo shows Owens in a classic running pose. Warmerdam was a U.S. pole vaulter who was the first to clear 15 feet, and he held the world record for many years. Both he and Owens are in the USA Track and Field Hall of Fame. The photos are ex.

Lot 118. 1952, 1953 Track and Field Programs. The 1952 programs are for the Knights of Columbus 33rd Annual Athletic Meet at Madison Square Garden, vg-ex, and the 27th Indoor Track Championships conducted by the 91st Highlander Athletic Assn. at the Main Armories in Hamilton, Ont., Canada, vg and scored. Harrison Dillard and Don Gehrmann are pictured in the K of C program. The 1953 program is for the 9th Annual Philadelphia Inquirer Games at Convention Hall, vg-ex with some scoring. Dillard is pictured. The program appears to be signed by Art Barnard and Ken Wiesner of Navy. We have not had these signatures authenticated.

Lot 121. 2 Different 8” x 10” Photos Signed by Ron Turcotte Aboard Secretariat. Turcotte signed a color photo in blue sharpie, and a b&w photo in black. A caption with the b&w photo reads: “Secretariat 31-length victory at Belmont, racing’s greatest performance.” The photos are nm, and both signatures are 10s. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
